As the owner of schedule, cost, and scope, I led program execution from concept to production, cross functional issue resolution, action item tracking, risk assessment, mitigation planning and communication across the organization (both up and down the management chain). As the keeper of the program phase exit requirements, I made sure that all cross functional deliverables were identified and completed in time to meet program objectives. I also led the determination of the program prototype allocation needs and owned the program budget.

Program Manager for “Juniper Control System”. This project competes with Cisco Secure Domain Router capability. The hardware platform is IBM Blade Center HT with HS21 Blades as CPU engine.  The software platform is based on JUNOS. Led all program activities including the ODM vendor selection process, drafting of statement of work and generation of NRE agreement with IBM.

Program Manager for 10 x 10 Gig Ethernet Peripheral Interface Card (PIC) for Juniper’s Routers.  This program involved working with engineering teams in multiple geographies and cultures as well as hardware and software development.

Program Manager for two programs under Routing Protocol Daemon (RPD) Team: Feature set for Next Generation Multicast VPN support and MPLS Converged Services Support. Senior ODM Engineering Program Manager,  Sustaining Engineering Manager

 

Responsibilities and accomplishments included:

Responsible for all phases of product life cycle (NPI and Sustaining) for Juniper routing engines (Intel CPU blades) as the HW Lead, engineering ODM program manager, and sustaining engineering manager. Charted the technical road map of 5 generations of routing engines (included road map for CPU, Chipset, Memory, HDD, and SSD). Led activities with product management and hardware vendors to select appropriate technology based on price performance requirements. Owned the HW specs for the routing engines.

Managed hardware vendors Kontron, Motorola and Accton to deliver products per spec (electrical, mechanical, environmental, functional, safety, EMI and NEBS compliance testing standards). Worked with technology partners such as Intel, Broadcom, and Freescale in determining product road maps and providing engineering support. Led key business activity in vendor selection, and drafting OEM/ODM/NRE agreements. Led business process creation for ODM/OEM engagement model from both strategic and tactical aspects.

ü  Drove the JUNOS Kernel team to improve the reliability of the hard drive by allowing it to go into standby as often as possible.

ü  Based on customer feedback and RMA data, directed design changes to migrate to extended duty cycle hard drives and solid state drives (SSD). 

ü  Led trouble shooting activity in issues related to cooling CPU at max utilization as well as reliability issues induced by shock and vibration, and JUNOS Kernel bring up on the routing engines.
